Our brand new Body Butters are now online.
We're extra excited about these as, not only are they from a fantastic new supplier, they contain some amazing, locally sourced, natural ingredients.
We'd like to share why we picked Eco Soaps as our latest supplier of Natural and Handmade Skincare products. But first things first...
The difference between Body Butters, Lotions and Creams.
It's all in the water!
It's all in the water!
Simply put - Lotions and creams contain high levels of water (up to 70%), creating a thinner, lighter consistency. Body Butters are made primarily from vegetable oils and butters (such as Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter - and in our case Scottish Ola Oil), with little to no water - creating a harder, thicker consistency similar to butter or balm.

Our Moisturising Body Butters are a perfect happy medium! They contain just enough water and Aloe Vera Leaf Juice to create a slightly lighter consistency that is easily absorbed, making these butters perfect for everyday use. With plenty of nourishing oils and butters they are still just as hydrating as traditional Body Butters (we're currently testing some amazing 100% Natural Whipped Body Butters - so if you're looking for a traditional Body Butter, they will be online very soon!).
Why are these Body Butters so great?
We've been testing these Body Butters for a couple of months now - and the feedback has been fantastic! Our test panel includes bloggers and skincare fanatics all around the country with different skin types and sensitivities - the results have blown us away (and comparisons with luxury skincare brands have been mentioned several times!).
"After using the Mint & Lavender Body Butter for a couple of weeks my skin has never felt so smooth and supple - dry patches have completely disappeared. The smell is divine!" - Jane (one of our Product Testers in Newcastle) |
"I'm so impressed with this Body Butter. I normally use a much more expensive natural skincare brand and have to say, I won't be buying it again." - Wendy (one of our Product Testers in Scarborough who has tested the Geranium Body Butter) |
Here we explain a little bit about the main ingredients...
Aloe Vera Leaf Juice
Shea Butter
Shea Butter is another popular ingredient used in the fight against dry skin and minor skin conditions. It promotes the skin's natural collagen production, while creating a protective barrier to nourish the skin throughout the day. Reports of improvements in stretch marks, wrinkles and skin inflammation are not surprising given the healing and soothing properties of Shea Butter.

Natural Scottish Ola Oil
Ola Oil is made from Rapeseed crops grown by the Sorrie family in Aberdeenshire. Rapeseed Oil (or Canola Oil) is FANTASTIC for skin! Here's why:
It is high in Omega-3, 6 & 9 Fatty Acids Ola Oil is around ten times higher in Omega-3 than Olive Oil and high in Omega-6 which promotes healthy skin, nails and hair. It contains masses of Vitamins & Anti-Oxidants Including Vitamin A, B3, C and E (all of which are essential for healthy skin). It protects the skin from Free Radicals Minimising wrinkles, UV and pollution damage. Ola Oil is created at room temperature by cold-pressing seeds from these crops. No heat or chemical processes are involved at all, meaning the Ola Oil in our Body Butters are pure and maintain their beneficial properties. |
