Bathing in Sea Salts has been a tradition for centuries. The Ancient Egyptians are reported to have visited the Dead Sea purely for the therapeutic benefits of the salt water - Cleopatra was a big fan! With so many health and skin benefits we’re beginning to see why.

Why are Natural Bath Salts so good for skin?
Sea Salt contains over 60 different natural minerals that are fantastic for our skin and muscles, including Calcium, Sodium, Chloride, Bromide, Magnesium, Zinc and Potassium. All these amazing minerals are absorbed by your skin cells (through Osmosis if you want to start getting really technical).
This is the key to keeping your skin soft and supple. When you don’t have the right mineral balance, your skin can become dry, dull, blotchy and irritated (especially in the colder months). A couple of soaks a week in a good quality Natural Bath Salt tops up your skin's mineral levels keeping it hydrated and healthy.
Acne? What acne?
As well as hydrating and balancing your skin’s mineral levels, Sea Salt also helps draw out impurities and toxins from your skin.
Sufferers of body acne (in particular “backne”) should try bathing a couple of times a week in natural sea salt to help detoxify and clean excess oil from pores in those hard to reach places. Pick a salt with other cleansing and antibacterial ingredients such as Tea Tree, Lavender and Bergamot Essential Oils and you’ll have a pretty effective natural acne treatment.

Tip: When you're in the bath or shower, grab and handful of salt, add a bit of warm water to slightly dissolve the salt and gently rub in circles all over your body. Make sure you use a salt with finer or more rounded crystals so you don't scratch your skin - or use a Buffer Bag (there'll be more about that in a future post!).
